Originally, Neighbours wrapped up in 2022 when UK's Channel 5 decided to pull their funding. This led many to conclude that the storied drama's run was officially over. However, Amazon breathed new life into the series in 2023. This seemed like a promising new chapter, especially since the show continued to captivate audiences, earning a spot in the UK's Top 10 rankings and even snagging a Daytime Emmy nomination for 2024.
Nevertheless, Fremantle, the show's producer, has confirmed that production will cease by July 2025. The soap will continue to offer four episodes each week until it bids a final farewell in December 2025, airing its last episode both on Amazon Prime Video and Australia’s Channel Ten. Fans can expect the final stretch of episodes to be packed with the kind of unexpected plots and dramatic turns that have kept them engaged over the decades.

The real sticking point remains financial backing. Channel Ten, which previously aired Neighbours, had already indicated that supporting the soap single-handedly isn't commercially viable. This impasse leaves the show's future uncertain unless new sponsors step in.
